Jebel Ali Outlet Village vs. Dubai Outlet Mall
Boasting everything from ultra-modern mega-malls to traditional Arabic souks, Dubai is a city bursting with designer goodies, Middle Eastern handicrafts and even a few bargains – if you know where to look.
There are two Outlet Malls in the city: the Dubai Mall and the newly opened Jebel Ali Outlet Village.
Jebel Ali Outlet Village
Location: Jebel Ali, Near Highway E11 Abu Dhabi Direction Dubai, next to Dubai Parks and Resorts (10-minute drive past the Ghantoot exit)
Opened in September 2016, Jebel Ali Outlet Village is the newest shopping destination in Dubai.
It is part of a theme park development by Meraas, a Dubai Holding Company.
Layout and architecture are inspired by the Tuscan town of San Gimignano, a Unesco World Heritage site in Italy.
With brickwork, piazza-like squares and water features it creates a unique, relaxing atmosphere and even if you are not up for a big shopping tour, it is just a beautiful place to take a stroll around.
The mall is not that huge – everything is located on one floor and it takes about 15 minutes to walk from one end to the other (if you don’t stop at one of the shops).
The place is dedicated to high-end and luxury fashion. It is home to over 100 retail brands, including Ted Baker, Tommy Hilfiger, Sacoor, Hugo Boss and several Italian designer.
Next to clothes, you will also find home ware, sportware and department shops.
Each shop offers year-long discounts, with some of them going up to 70 % the original retail price.
If you are looking for mid-range brands, you will be disappointed.
In terms of restaurants, you will find international and local brands like Starbucks, Ihop, Operation Falafel and P.F. Chang’s. Sadly, there are not many Italian themed cafes and dining options.
Dubai Outlet Mall
Location: Dubai Al-Ain Road (Route 66), near Dubai Bypass Road Interchange
The Dubai Outlet Mall opened its door in 2007 and has ever since been the place for expats and tourists for bargain hunter’s.
Unlike Jebel Ali Outlet Village, this 2-story mall focuses on mid-range brands like Mango, Aldo, Wrangler, Nine West and many famous sports brands. The over 240 shops also include some designer brands.
Especially if you are looking for discounted sports clothes and sports gear, this is the right place for you with discounts ranging from 30-75%.
If you get hungry, there is a food court with fast food chains and couple of other cafes and casual restaurants.
Note: Make sure to compare prices. I often found that general Sales at other shopping Malls (not Outlets) have even better discounts.
