6 Must Have Apps For Every Dubai Traveler
Going to Dubai anytime soon? I have got you covered!
When you’re on the go, your best friend and resource can be your phone (unless you are planning for a digital detox). With busy lifes, many people forget to actually plan their holiday before arriving at the destination.
When used together, these apps can be the ultimate travel tool, placing a wealth of information at your fingertips.
And the best thing is – they are all free!
Here are my top 6 Apps for every Dubai traveler!
Visit Dubai is THE one-in-all app every traveler should have. It offers information about shopping, dining, events, attractions, beaches, transportation, sports and activities.
You will have access to location details, opening times and links to websites for more details.
A great feature is the itinerary tab which suggests itineraries based on different interests, themes and length of stay.
Zomato is the best tool to search for and discover great places to eat at or order in. Forget about Tripadvisor, in Dubai everyone uses Zomato.
The app is extremely easy to use and has great filter options. You’ll find reviews, photos, location and more details of the restaurant such as indoor/outdoor seating, average cost, WiFi availability and whether the place serves alcohol or not. And you can have a look at the food and drinks menus.
If you create an account you can even order food via the app.
Careem & Uber
Careem is a Middle East based car booking service, similar to Uber. Both apps pretty much work in the same way; you download the App, select your route and car. After the trip the fare will be charged to your credit card.
The prices are almost the same. While Uber’s rate is AED 1.90/km, Careem charges AED 2.25/km.
On the other hand, during busy timings, the dynamic surcharge of Careem is lower than Uber’s.
Guzzle is a drinks app that brings you savings on Dubai’s nightlife. It works on a 2 for 1 basis.
The basic version is free, with an option of purchasing the premium package or the 2 week tourist pass for AED 99/USD 27.
Another similar product is Cheers as part of The Entertainer App. The difference is that there is no free version for Cheers, you will have to buy the complete 1 year product.
Time Out Dubai
Time Out Dubai is a great addition to the Visit Dubai app. It is a bit more up to date, detailed and adds comments from the Time Outs critics team.
From restaurant reviews, big party previews and cinema listings to hotel profiles, spa guides, art gallery tours and much more.
Packed full of new ideas, deals and promotions every week as well as containing hundreds of listings for restaurants, bars, nightclubs and much more it is an intelligent guide to life in the city.
Google Maps & RTA Smart Drive
Google Maps & RTA Smart Drive are absolute must have apps in a city like Dubai. With constant construction, road diversions and heavy traffic, it will safe you a lot of time when getting around.
RTA Smart Drive works offline and provides automatic rerouting, speed limit alerts, and displays POI’s along the route. It lets you know where there is traffic, road works and accidents and reroutes your trip automatically.
